Last Days of Summer

We are in full protest mode.

We have registered for school, proven our residence and purchased school supplies. However, we are not ready to surrender our summer schedule. We have a routine of sleeping in, packing bags and lunches, swimming, and then having a nice evening.

They are going to have to pry summer out of our wet, wrinkled hands.

Apple Camp, Round 2

As it turns out, it's a good thing the girls enjoyed Apple camp last week because I signed them up for TWO WEEKS!

We returned to the Apple store this week for their second week of camp to learn how to make videos. The girls learn how to shoot and edit, and on the last day, the campers presented their films.

George and I have spent a LOT of time inside the Apple store this week. A couple of random thoughts... 1) the Apple store has the best air conditioning. The BEST! and 2) although we started the week out with great intentions of George and I reading while the girls worked, I caved and let George purchase Renegade, a new game, to help pass the time. It was soooo worth it!

Swimmers

Although the camps are winding down, these swimmers are not finished at the pool. We cannot believe school starts soon, and they cannot imagine a day that involves dry clothing.

Apple Camp

This week Grace and Lauren are attending Apple Camp for robotics and coding. George decided to sit this one out, and if I am being completely honest, the girls have some reservations. They are doing it, and they are interested in coding. However, we haven't been bitten by the robotics bug.

The camp is open to kids, ages 8-10, and I offered to "overestimate" George's age, if he were interested. He declined, and that worked out well because the class age skewed more toward twelve.

Overall, the girls admit that they had a good time, and they are glad they went.

George is S E V E N

We gathered with some of George's sweet friends and family to celebrate his birthday. George is always ready to party. Fortunately, the daily summer thunderstorms we have been experiencing held off, and George was able to have some good swim time with his friends.

George's Birthday Date

We aren't finished celebratin

We decided to have a birthday date, and George chose to go see Ant Man and the Wasp. Afterward we went to California Pizza Kitchen, per tradition. This crew had a fantastic time celebrating all things George.

George's 7th Birthday

William George has been ready to celebrate his birthday since the first day of summer break. He patiently waited, counting down the days until July 1st -- the start of his BIRTHDAY MONTH!

Today, on July 12th, George turns S E V E N!

George, we couldn't be more proud of you, and we have been anxiously waiting to celebrate you!

George's cake choice: Dairy Queen Oreo Ice Cream Cake

There is no telling what this wild man is wishing for!

Happy SEVENTH!

Lauren and Grace combed through George's rather eclectic birthday wishlist for some good ideas about what he might like.

A big hit that wasn't on the list was a blue tooth karaoke mike. Because, hello? Karaoke!

Naturally a white crocodile is a staple that every boy should own.

One can never have too many snakes...

And yes... the hard-to-find and exceptionally rare oarfish.

His sisters found it all! And he was so appreciative.

George was patient about some clothing choices.

He loved the Audubahn Society's book of spiders.

Grace and Lauren deserved a treat as well. After all, the band needs to be complete.

George, we love you so much and love getting to celebrate you!

Happy SEVENTH birthday!

Cheers to Seven

Happy birthday, William George! You bring so much energy and excitement to our family, and we love you to the moon and back!

Summer Reading

We are pausing our regular schedule to take a break for some summer reading assignments. Fortunately, The Westing Game is entertaining, making summer reading fun.

S U N D A Y

July 4th is a favorite part of summer, and these firecrackers are my very favorite part.

We are having such a good time this summer, and we cannot believe we are at the half-way mark of summer. We are determined to wring as much fun as we can out of this last month.

July 4th

When July 4th falls on a Wednesday, you make the most of it with a day at the pool.
