Define Good

I found this photo of William George lurking in some of our December files. Never has a pair of pajamas more perfectly captured the essence of the wearer.

Pixie, Beloved Grand-dog

Recently Pixie had her first grandparent visit when we went to Skip's parent's home for lunch. When the trio later spent the  night, they asked if Pixie could sleep over, too. We decided not to push our luck.

Enumerated Update

Happy Monday Tuesday, friends!

The enumerated update has been on hiatus since June, but I thought about dusting it off in January. Then the month of January got away from me and - yada, yada, yada - here we are. Speaking of, the other day, William George asked me, "Why you say 'yada-yada,' Mommy?" That's probably because I watched too much Seinfeld in the 90's.

Anyrate. How is 2015 going for you so far? Here at Lindsey Twins Incorporated we have hit the ground running with a couple of goals. We have been going to the gym on a regular basis, and there has been an official, no holds barred smack down going on in our home. More on that below, but we have been cleaning like it's 1999. Or, rather, we have been cleaning as if we were moving, although we are not. Other than that, here is what's happening:

1) A Bowl Full of Lemons: A very much needed household purge and reorganization is now taking place. Following the very logical and linear outline from A Bowl Full of Lemons, the kitchen, laundry room and two pantries have now been reorganized. The difference (night v day) is astounding! However, there has been a slight casualty. After moving the washing machine and dryer and after replacing the dishwasher (when it simply gave up the ghost - prematurely, I might add) and cleaning underneath all three, I came down with a sinus infection and a righteous case of bronchitis. After ten days of sounding like I belonged in a TB ward, I caved and went to the local doc-in-the-box. The bad news is that my favorite physician has left the practice, meaning that instead of the usual, flask-sized bottle of cough syrup needed to wipe out acute bronchitis, I was given the usual, paltry amount which may barely be adequate. The good news is that they tend to overdo the steroid injection so I should soon be enjoying a steroid-fueled cleaning/organizing/purging few days. Chemical enhancement for the organization challenge? Yes, please. #forthewin

2) Marsala:  Pantone's color of the year is......(drumroll)..... Marsala. While I like the color very much, I also am enjoying that this decade of life that I'm in means that I can pick up a Marsala scarf and nail color and be very much on trend.

3) We Never Met: Do you people watch? You know when you see interesting people on the street (or just out and about, in my case) and you try to figure out their story? The We Never Met Instagram feed does exactly that in the best possible way. Check it out here. Their photography has definitely brightened up my feed, but that may be the anglophile in me talking.

4) Going Private: Speaking of Instagram, you may have noticed the Instagram feed has been removed from the blog. My apologies to family, especially, who enjoyed the photos but are not on Instagram. Due to issues with a couple of questionable followers, I made the account private, which rendered the blog widget not available for viewing. This is disappointing because Instagram is my favorite media outlet.

5) Bags: As someone who admits to having handbag weakness, this article, "What Your Bag Says About You," is simply funny to me. I'm going to have to give a language caution on this one, but it is worth the read, although maybe you have to like bags to really appreciate it.

6) Wonder Boys: Much is made about holiday movies, and I like all of the usual ones, too. Few people talk about post-holiday movies. My absolute favorite post-holiday movie is Wonder Boys. This year, however, I am reading the book instead of watching the movie, and this is Michael Chabon's best work, for sure.  Do you remember the movie? See the old trailer here.

What's happening with you?

It should go without saying that Pixie is already hopelessly spoiled.

Basketball Debut

Grace is wearing #1, while Lauren sports #2

Have I mentioned that Grace and Lauren are playing basketball? Grace wanted to play last year, and we postponed because committing to practice during the month of December is a challenge, particularly when Skip signed on as coach. So Grace wanted to sign up, and Lauren wanted to cheer. Skip talked her into playing basketball instead, and she has loved it. Grace makes a lot of baskets, and Lauren is a proficient rebounder. Plus, Lauren's deer-like run makes her difficult to cover. We have played two games, and we are 1-1 so far. The girls league is small... really small... as in there are only two teams, making the weekly match-ups likely to become a heated rivalry*.

*Totally just kidding.

Skip will tell you he never naps. As someone who finds the hibernating allure of winter irresistible, this is an anti-nap stance I will never understand. Every now and then, however, the above happens.

Pixie Busted

"No, really, I have no idea who has been chewing all the pillows."
"..."
"What, this? This is nothing... I'm trying to straighten the pillows..."

Sharing Pixie

We are working on sharing Pixie. During the months of doggy discussion, Grace researched breeds, presented different types of dogs for our consideration, and was constantly reminded that her behavior had to be impeccable if she wanted Santa to bring a dog. Lauren, on the other hand, had strong feelings about the dog. She would often proclaim, "I'm not feeding the dog. I'm not walking the dog. I don't want the dog in my room. I'm not petting it. I don't want ANYthing to do with a dog."

Once our discussion turned to the Bichon Frise, she did an about-face. "I LOVE Bichon Frises!" she said. Although Santa clearly specified that Pixie is for the entire family, Grace continues to remind Lauren of her previous stance about pets.

We have tremendous opportunity to expand our capacity for sharing over the next year.

My Birthday

On the 27th, my family treated me to a birthday celebration. Skip procured all of my favorite indulgences (flowers, wine, cheese, cake!), and the trio had my "party" in the dining room, per tradition. I love these guys so much.

Pixie's Arrival

Just when I thought the Christmas updates were complete, photos of the 23rd, the night of Pixie's arrival, surfaced as a draft. Here is Pixie patiently awaiting the arrival of the trio, and below are the initial introductions.
