Confirmation and Catching Up

The duo reunited with one of their favorite sets of twins to help them celebrate confirmation and first communion. Grace and Lauren loved partying with these guys!

Opening Day of Fall Ball

After George's baseball season ended last spring, we really missed it. We needed more baseball! Batting! Fielding! And basically watching our guy fly around the bases.

We spent Saturday watching George crush the ball. He had a triple and two home runs, earning the game ball. As his dirty uniform indicates, he had a ton of defensive plays as well.

George, we love to watch you play!

Middle School Band

When the girls signed up for band, we were excited because learning to play an instrument is incredible. However, neither Skip nor I were in the band so we had no idea what to expect or how things worked.

As it turns out, band is competitive, and they work incredibly hard. Last year, the duo learned a lot about how to play their respective instruments, and they learned about chair tests. This year when chair tests were announced they both worked really hard.

Grace was one of only three clarinetist to hit a new (and difficult) note. YAY!

Lauren nailed her piece as well and earned first chair. YAY!

Most importantly, they are enjoying their instruments and learning to play music.

Bus Rider 2019/2020

Since last year, George has wanted to ride the school bus instead of being a car rider. We told him to wait a year and see how he felt about it, and he was still firm this year. So... on days when he doesn't have events of safety patrol, he rides the bus. I pick him up at the bus stop because... safety, but other than that, he loves it.

We're so proud of this guy who is not so little any more.

Costco's Chicken Pot Pie

Have you tried the chicken pot pie from Costco?

Y'all... it's sooooo good, and it's back as seasonal item. One of our family favorites for sure.

Putt Putt at the Library

George has been working toward an academic goal and has been going to the library twice a week to study. After a long study sash, we take advantage of putt-putt golf, available for a short time at our local branch.

Golf makes studying more fun.

These two Ravenclaws are ready to meet up with House of Thinkers for their first club meeting. Their house finished second last year, and they are ready for vindication this year.

Sick Day

George woke up this morning and was feeling a little queasy. Despite his best efforts, he became ill about 15 minutes before time to leave for school. The first full week of school just wiped him out, and various bugs are already going around.

Although feeling puny, he's still motivated and worked on some math drills once he was feeling better

Labor Day Weekend

After four long days of school, we were ready for a three day weekend. We decided to beat the weekend crowd at the pool by meeting the trio after school with their pool bags and heading to the pool. We needed to get a last swim in to get ready for fall. They swam for a few hours, and then we went to Newk's for some pizza.

Saturday, we had to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide, of course, and we had my mom over for some grilled burgers. We also went over to Skip's parents to grill because one can never have too much grilled food for Labor Day.

Summer of 2019, you were awesome.
