Twelfth Birthdays

This weekend we celebrated Lauren and Grace's TWELFTH birthdays. Obviously, we cannot believe that the big 1-2 has arrived, but they definitely are excited about it and were counting down the days.

Birthday weekend or not, we had to go to the park first thing Saturday morning to support William George. Having moved up to 9U this fall, this has been a challenging season for him, as he is one of the youngest guys playing. Things really came together for him Saturday... he was 3/4 at bat and had some really awesome defensive plays. The coach awarded him the game ball!

After lunch, the girls asked for lunch at Jim N Nick's, and we were happy to oblige.  We loved the first of many birthday celebrations.

Lauren likes to start planning her birthdays in July, while George is busy planning his. Back then, they decided on a spa day as their celebration. They have been to a kid-centric spa previously, but this was their first time at a real, adult spa. Lauren was sitting in the cozy seating area, drinking lemonade from a chilled glass, and she leaned back on the sofa, sighed and closed her eyes... she had finally found where she belongs.  Grace was enjoying the tranquility.

Although they were ready for a grown up mani/pedi, we had to opt for ice cream because you're only 12 once so they definitely wanted to say "yes" to ice cream while still acceptable and reasonable to do so.

Their techs were really attentive and made sure to make their pampering special for their birthday.

After some relaxing pampering came the best part: family dinner. Their selected menu included:

appetizers: chips & queso
drinks: tea & lemonade
entree: grilled cheeseburgers, edamame and fries
dessert: coconut cake & chocolate volcano cake

After singing and cake came present time. As always, everyone was way too generous.

After church Sunday, the girls were ready for birthday, round 2, with another lunch of their choosing (J Alexander's for the fries) and shopping.

Grace and Lauren, happy birthday! We cannot wait to celebrate on the 3rd!
