Valentine's Day

How was your Valentine's Day?

Lauren and Grace report theirs as being great, and George mainly enjoys all the treats and goodies.  Although George is the only one who still gets to have a party, complete with a Valentine's box, the duo like to make candy bags to share with their friends during morning gym. Soooo glad that they all still want to celebrate.

George's school had Valentine grams again this year so he surprised everyone with lovable little monkeys to pass out to us at home.

Happy (belated) Valentines Day!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

This week has been a really busy week, school-wise and work-wise for Skip, with a paper and project due for the girls and some travel for Skip. While we normally would go "all in" for Valentine's, work was a real distraction to our festivities.

The trio were festive for today, although the duo had track try outs (distance running, no less) so their outfits are planned with a quick change for a big run in PE. Who says Valentines can't be sweaty?

George had some relative calm, what with second grade teachers understanding the importance of holidays. Although the school is not allowed to have parties, we sent a special snack consisting of chips, cupcakes and Capri Suns. Also, he passed out some Valentines, and his sweet friends showered him with Valentines as well. He has such a great group of friends.

The girls were surprised that middle schoolers still exchange a little candy here and there, and they were glad we had thought to stock some extra Valentines just in case they needed them. They have some sweet friends at their school, too.

After school, the duo had dance. Although they were tired from running in PE, they went to dance because it is recital season, and it's important to learn the routines. George also had an after school commitment with Discovery Club.

After getting all of that work out of the way, we were able to have a nice dinner (their favorite lasagna) and open a couple of Valentine treats. The girls received a cross necklace, representing the greatest love of all, and a cute new purse. George received a truck and a new Snoopy for his collection.

Although the day was busy, we enjoyed taking a moment to share the love and express how thankful we are to have each other.

Sending much love to you and yours.

Valentine's Party

We had a busy weekend. The girls and I volunteered at a pageant at George's school (a fundraiser). The girls loved getting to see a lot of their old friends and see some of their favorite teachers.

Later in the afternoon, we had five friends over for a Valentine's Party. I would say that it was a Galentine's celebration, but there were two guys in the group (siblings who were good sports). We kept it guy friendly by incorporating a few rounds of laser tag, and there may have been a Nerf war. The duo loved catching up with their friends and are looking forward to Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day 2018

How was your Valentine's Day?

We had a great time celebrating with our three favorite Valentines. The girls had a special field trip to hear the symphony, and George had some special activities at school. The fifth grade class had been instructed to dress up for a day with the symphony, and their class looked so sophisticated in their finery.

For George's class we made chocolate chip cookies, and they had some special treats and passed out Valentines.  Also, we had some school wide candy grams available for purchase and that is always fun.

After school, we had a few Valentine's goodies.

The trio had gotten up at 6:00am to make cards as a breakfast surprise. This was our favorite part of Valentine's Day by far.

Pixie went to the groomer last week and looked especially festive with her heart themed bows.

We had planned to have steak for dinner. However, Skip and I had a big lunch out yesterday, and decided to postpone our dinner until tonight. We love extended celebrations so this works out fine for us.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day, 5K and 4th Grade

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

The trio had such a fun day sharing the love with their friends and classmates. William George's class had an "Elegant Party" during which time they displayed all of their best manners they have been learning, e.g., how to escort a girl into a room, how to pull out her chair, etc.

William George was channeling "Master George" from Downton Abbey. He would have rather worn his Darth Vadar costume, but we reached a compromise that his Valentine's Day box could be Darth Vadar if he dressed up for the party. Done and done.

Here is George with his good friend and partner in crime.

"Dabbing" and blowing kisses.

Darth put aside his evil ways, just for one day.

The kindergarten impresario.

The class had a few photos in the church parlor.

As for these ladies, they made special Valentines for their friends and to share with classmates, and they sent their teachers chocolate hearts.

Their class at school doesn't get to have an official party, but they have some time to pass out cards and gifts (wink-wink). Parents do not attend, but the girls had a really good time.

And, of course, there were Valentines from us (mom/dad) since the trio are the best Valentines ever.

The four girls in George's class were soooo pretty and received a lot of attention on Valentine's Day.

But really, this group is just impossibly sweet each and every day.

This sweet friend watches out for George and makes sure the menu stays allergen-free.

Behind the scenes: these two lovely tweens had a tough time finding age-appropriate Valentine cards. They contemplated making their own creations, but settled on something pet-themed and prepackaged. (Whew!)

I really wanted to do something personalized for George, since this year was his last "big" V-day party. However, he saw a box of Star Wars cards (but, of course), and there was no way I could compete with that. As mentioned above, we negotiated on the attire.

(We have negotiated so often and so much that George now starts propositions by saying, "I make a deal with you..." When you hear that, get your game face on because the negotiation has begun.)

Another a final pic with a sweet friend.

After all the school partying, Skip grilled steak, and we had a nice family dinner. (We had celebrated with lunch over the weekend.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope your day was wonderful. If for any reason it wasn't, it's not too late! Treat yourself to something indulgent.
