George's Birthday Celebration

George had a fantastic birthday weekend. We kicked off George's birthday with doughnuts for breakfast - one of his all time favorites. George then indulged in a full morning of play -- with us doing whatever he wanted. The girls also promised to help him organize his room (more to come on that), and he was so thankful to have the "Lauren treatment," ie., everything fully organized and in place.

That evening we had a pool party with George's friends from school and baseball. George loved getting to see his buddies and have a good time, and they were all so generous. George will be stocked up on baseball cards and other cool gadgets for a long time.

We went to lunch the next day with my mom, and George enjoyed a birthday lunch at Jim N Nicks, where he devoured his favorite - turkey nachos. Thanks to Grammie for such generous and awesome presents! Again, George got to pick whatever activity he wanted to play, and we all joined in. Mostly that involved cars and Legos, of course.

After a dinner of Arby's (his birthday, his choice!), we had an ice cream cake and opened presents. Lauren and Grace got George some Pokemon items and some baseball cards, and we got him some Red Sox gear, Legos, an iPhone (to be used as an iTouch) and some various items. He is very excited to be able to FaceTime and text better, and he has discovered the joy of gaming apps.

Sunday, the trio were scheduled to acolyte at church (more on that soon), and then we had a birthday lunch at Skip's parents. Gran kept the celebration going strong with cupcakes, and George loved opening some additional loot (read: presents!).  Thanks to Gran and Poppa for their gifts!

George, we loved celebrating your 8th birthday with you!

Happy birthday, William George!

George, you are firecracker! You are inquisitive, smart, loving and funny. You have BOUNDLESS energy! Even mono couldn't keep you down for more than 48 hours! We love watching you run and play baseball, and we love your excitement at church. We know God has big things planned for you!

Happy 8th birthday, George!

We love you!

Youth Group

Grace and Lauren have been enjoying youth fellowship Thursday, where they meet up at church and go to lunch on Thursdays. The group votes on a restaurant, and they take over the place. May God give the fellow diners a lot of patience with this rambunctious group.

July 4th Family Visit

We were super excited to have some cousin time over the July 4th holiday. We had a great weekend with family... food, fun and games. We also tested Skip's hypothesis that all Pop Tarts taste the same. Extensive research did not support his hypothesis, as all subjects under 25 had a perfect score on identifying flavors. On the other hand, Skip and Uncle Rick were about 50-50.

It was great to catch up and have some family time.

Red Sox

When we were in Boston, Skip had a work event/outing to see the Red Sox play. Skip's boss was unable to go, and gave his ticket to George, who was THRILLED. George had a great time at the game, talking with all of Skip's friends from work. One guy in particular promised George he would help him catch a fly ball... that he would make sure he had a baseball from Fenway.  Unfortunately, a foul ball never came there way.

However, some special mail came George's way today.  Mr. Clay picked up a ball for George that night on his way out of the stadium, and mailed it to him as a souvenir.

George's day was MADE. This baseball is now one of George's prized possessions.

Such a thoughtful gesture!
