William George was absolutely ready for his class party and even more ready for winter break. His class had a book exchange, and then they decorated cookies. They enjoyed some delicious Chick-fil-A nuggets and snacks, and then they finished up by reading essays about how and where Santa will vacation after Christmas. George had an awesome class party, and we loved seeing his art work. His new ornaments have a special place on our tree. So thankful for teachers who work so hard.

Weekend Update
Happy Monday! How was your weekend?
Highlights from our weekend include Lauren and Grace going to a friend's Christmas party, George's Robotics competition, spending time outdoors while Skip played tennis (followed by a trip to Starbucks to warm up), and lighting the Advent candle at George.

Robotics
George has had Robotics on a cold, rainy Tuesday evening, and another Robotics competition on a freezing cold Saturday morning at 8am. The only thing worse is being in the shoes of his coaches who had to arrive between 6:30-7am to set up the fields.
Also, I have to confess that George and Skip got their at 8am. I got the duo up to work on homework, and then we joined them later.
I'm kidding because those jokes are just too easy. In reality, Saturday was a gorgeous winter day, and we are so proud of all the improvement George and his teammates are showing. They get better with each competition.

Christmas Program 2019
George's elementary school held its annual Christmas program today. We were so excited to see all the classes perform, and we enjoyed music from the choir and a performance from the drama club. Obviously, William George's performance was our very favorite. George, we love to see you sing with your friends!

Robotics
These guys returned with additions and modifications to their robot for their next competition.
George had fun with a baseball buddy, and they were comparing notes about their 'bots.
We are so proud of these guys!

UAB Honor Band
Lauren recently participated in UAB's Honor Band. This was a huge honor, and she enjoyed her time spent in the Alys Stephens and Hulsey Buildings. Because of the time commitment, Grace opted not to do it, but she happily supported Lauren and the additional four classmates who played.
This was a a wonderful opportunity, but it did require a huge time commitment from Lauren, both in practicing, performing, and catching up on the schoolwork she missed.

Annual Christmas Visit
A couple of years ago, I saw that some of our traditions might be time and maturity sensitive, and I added an item to my Christmas wish list each year: photos at the mall. So... when asked about my Christmas list, this tops my list each year.
The trio are so awesome, and this perspective keeps the tradition going, especially for someone who is at peek excitement level.
We arrive early so that we have the place to ourselves. While Skip holds our place in line, we take photos, and then we join him.
We also may have bribed them with Shake Shack.
We had time to regroup at home for a couple of hours before going to church for the "Hanging of the Green".
We have a couple of our favorite traditions checked off, and we are ready for some Christmas cheer.
What are your favorite traditions?
Iron Bowl
Y'all. I won't say that we had high hopes for the Iron Bowl. We knew it could be dicey, but we were hopeful nonetheless.
The trio were dressed in full gear, and the duo worked hard to knock out their last bit of homework.
We had some errands to run before the game and finished it off by having lunch at Chipotle.
The trio still enjoyed the game. Congratulations, Auburn, and Roll Tide Forever!
