Triple Play

Today was the girls' ballet recital, and George also had a baseball game.

A lot of the other dancers had baseball commitments (either as players or siblings). It's a busy day in our little town.

So the girls had rehearsal all morning, and then George had a 2:30 game. They finished rehearsal at 2:00. We had a 30 minute commute to the field, but they were also starving. So we picked up lunch as quickly as we could and figuratively raced to the ball field. The girls stopped to eat their sandwiches at a picnic table, while I walked to the dug out, munching on my sandwich. It wasn't graceful, and the stands were full.

We missed the first twenty minutes of a very tough game. Over the next 20 minutes, the A's pulled ahead. It was going to be close. We had a tough inning, leaving us tied. But then the Yankees had their turn at bat at the top of the next inning. If they regained the lead, that might be the end. Two Yankees got on with good hits. Then a slugger went up to bat, with what would likely result in them scoring three points. George caught it (out) and tagged second base where the runner had left the base (out) for an unassisted double. He then threw the ball to first because that runner had also left the base (out).

TRIPLE PLAY!!!!!!!

Everyone went wild! Oh my goodness... there was yelling and cheering... and the umpires had to consult because it all happened so fast. George has had a few double plays, but this was his first TRIPLE!

That closed out the Yankees bat with zero scoring, and the A's were able to score some runs, retaking the lead.

George was also 3/3, with a home run.

William George, you are forever my MVP. So incredibly proud of you!

JCIB Field Day 2019

Today was field day at middle school!

Because this event had been scheduled and canceled due to rain previously, they were excited to see the date finally arrive. They have been working exceptionally hard this last nine weeks, and needed some time outdoors to run around.

Updated to add: Because of ALL of the rain (all the livelong day!), they were unable to mow the grass prior to the event, but when I ran an errand to school the next day, the yard crew was busy at work.

They had a great day, proving that one is never too old to run around outside and have a good time.

Pajama Day

Most fortuitously, today is pajama day at both the girls' middle school and George's elementary school. So happy to have a group picture for PJ day!

Acolyte Training

Although this really doesn't seem possible, William George attended acolyte training after church yesterday.

The girls are continuing their service as acolytes, and George is proud to join them. He cannot wait until his first time to serve!

JCIB Spring Band Concert

We were so excited to attend Lauren and Grace's band concert at school.

They have had a wonderful year of band, and we are amazed at their progress from the beginning of the year until now.

Congratulations, ladies!

Magnolia Festival 5K

Our small city hosts a festival each spring, and there is also a 5K that is coordinated with the event. The trio registered several weeks ago, not realizing that George would be sick.

Because of liver and spleen swelling resulting from mono, his activities are limited. He can run, but shouldn't over do it. Certainly, he shouldn't do anything such as a contact sport. This 5K was supposed to be the girls' big rematch with George to challenge his Bulldog Run time. They were ready to really have a good run, but everyone had to be cautioned to slow down and not overdo it.

They had a great time!

Easter 2019

After a long week of illness, we were ready to celebrate Easter. Skip took the girls to church, and George and I watched remotely. Sadly, George is still contagious so we stayed home, and we also had to cancel lunch with grandparents so as not to expose them unnecessarily.

The good news is that George has his smile back! We had a great day celebrating a risen Savior and being thankful for healing.
