Weekend Update

How was your weekend?

One of the girls' teachers issued a Google survey last week to assess where everyone is with remote learning, and one of the questions asked if they had "big plans" scheduled for the weekend. Their teacher has jokes.

As it turns out, we did have big plans. Our town got up and ready Saturday for a visit from the Easter Bunny. Although local egg hunts were canceled, the EB made sure to visit as many communities as possible. When George found out, he was up and ready Saturday morning.

George's day was pretty much made, but then Skip took him on a huge bike ride, down an enormous hill to a creek. I think they were having a wonderful time until they had to climb back up the steep slope.

Two Treks

One of our official social distancing traditions is homemade pizza on Saturday nights. At least, that is our tradition for as long as we have flour.

Can we talk about the lack of flour and yeast for a moment? We have plenty of food and all of that, but it is surprising to me that the entire world decided to make bread all at the same time. Of course, if that's how families are feeding their children, by all means, proceed. But if it's a trending hobby or stress baking, I hope everyone tires of it quickly so the rest of us can purchase flour.

Skip has decided his favorite is BBQ chicken, while everyone else is sticking with pepperoni and cheese.

We got up and watched our church's Palm Sunday service, and then we did something we haven't done in years... we dyed Easter Eggs* (more to come on that). After that, the family had another bike ride in the neighborhood and then got ready for remote schooling to begin Monday.

How was your weekend? Were you able to do something fun?

*Eggs have been somewhat difficult to purchase due to shortages. The eggs we dyed were past their "use by" date.
