Art Day at School

So many, many weeks ago (pre-spring break), the duo had "Art Day" at school, followed by bring-a-friend to lunch. How could we pass up the opportunity to purchase early works from these up-and-coming artists?  The grandparents generously purchased all manner of art and then dined in the school cafeteria.

Two funny tidbits about this day. First, William George was seated at the end of the lunch table when the school principal approached him from behind, leaned around and said, "Hey, George! How are you today?"  George looked back at her, spun his head around the table and then started raising his eyebrows up and down flirtatiously. She made another try at being cordial, and George turned away and started "winking" by blinking his eyes rapidly. The principal at our school is pretty, and George is suddenly more interested in school.  HA!

Our school's book fair was held the week of this luncheon. As the children filed into the library to purchase books, the many budgetary considerations were bemusing. These kids are careful with their money, to say the least. The school's librarian relayed the story of two kids discussing the money needed to buy books and that they needed some money left over to purchase art. "I'm not buying my art work. If you don't buy it, they just give it to you at the end of the year anyway!"

Touche.
