Enumerated Update

Happy Friday, friends.

How was your first week of spring?  We are super excited about spring and being outdoors more. George is ready for baseball, and the girls are ready to do some running.

Some random thoughts this week:

1) Walkable Streets: These 50 compelling reasons for embracing a more walkable city make me wish my city were more walk- and bike-friendly. To be fair, we have plenty of sidewalks, and runners use them a lot. But as far as commuting by foot, it just doesn't happen. Also, I would love to have bike lanes. We live approximately two miles from the duo's school, and their life's dream is to ride their bikes to school. (Naturally, I would accompany them, but it's a total nonstarter as things stand now.)

2) Strong is the New Pretty: The girls are running a 5K today, and I am thinking we definitely need Strong is the New Pretty for our bookshelf.

3) Spring: Spring quietly appeared this week. William George's homework on the first day of spring was to play outside, proving once again how awesome his beloved Mrs. Shelby is.

4) Safety Plan for Kids: I love this idea of creating a code to signal that an uncomfortable/challenging situation is unfolding.

5) Raising brave girls: "Girls and boys are very alike physically. In fact, girls are often stronger until puberty and more mature, and yet we adults act as if girls are more fragile and more in need of help and [that] they can't handle as much."

Finally, to kick off the weekend and spring break week, here is William George with a little air guitar:

Have a great weekend.
