Ballet, 2012

For the last nine months, the girls have spent 45 minutes each week under the tutelage of their dance teacher in preparation for Saturday's recital.

We were scheduled to be at the Alabama Theatre bright and early for dress rehearsal.

We were not alone. There were hundreds of young and older girls who donned their dance attire and prepared to dance.

Gracie and Lauren took their turns on stage...

They got on their marks....

...and ran through their routine...

After rehearsal, we walked around the theatre and took a few photos...

This theatre is one of my favorite local structures.

I would have liked to have had more cooperative subjects, but they were embarking on a third, heavily scheduled day.

They are lovely, even when tired.

Occasionally, a smile would appear.

After photos, they explored a little on their own.

It's important to keep the talent happy.

After rehearsal, the girls had a hearty lunch and a lengthy nap.  They returned to the theatre in much higher spirits.

They enjoyed all the pre-dance activities, i.e., the running around, watching everyone apply lipstick and (minimal) make up.

Such a fun and exciting time!

Soon enough, they were all set to make their way back onstage.

Once again, they took the stage and performed their routine.

Bravo!

They had a wonderful time.
