Milestones: George Loses His First Tooth

For the past two or three years George has been wiggling various teeth and telling us they were loose. We would check and, upon finding the tooth not loose at all, remind him that sometimes it takes a reallllly looooonnnng time for a tooth to come out. Like Lauren, who was also late to lose teeth, he watched all of his friends lose tooth after tooth. Most of his friends have a bright white set of brand new permanent teeth fully in place!

He kept the dream alive, though, and every month he would tell us about a tooth that was loose. Finally, this fall, we checked one of his "loosies" and confirmed that it was, in fact, showing the slightest hint of being loose. FINALLY!

After a few weeks, the tooth became noticeably loose, and then last night he calmly walked up to me and said, "Here," handing me his tooth. He said he was playing, and it just fell out. He was pretty excited, but had one curveball for the tooth fairy... He didn't want to give her his tooth. "It's my tooth," he said, "and I'm keeping it. She can have the next one."

So that was that. He wrote a note to the tooth fair explaining his situation, promising her the next week. He left her some grape tomatoes because, like the dentist, she probably likes healthy snacks. Zippy, our Elf had arrived a few days before the tooth loss, and we noticed that Zippy and the TF must have had a good time visiting because there was cereal strewn all about the next morning.

Also, George received a bonus for being so patient over the last two years.

George, we love your new snaggletooth smile, and we bet this is the start of an ongoing trend and frequent visits from the Tooth Fairy.

Dear Tooth Fairy, I don't want you to get this tooth because it is my first one but you can get the second one. PS: Can I have mony

from George

Such a long wait for this moment.

We cannot wait to see your new smile!
