Enumerated Update + Anniversary

Today is our anniversary, and we are very spoiled because Lauren, Grace and George snuck downstairs very early this morning and made us breakfast. Gracie distracted us by climbing into our bed to snuggle (and be on the lookout), while Lauren and George prepared our food.

They are really the cutest.

Also, in the keeping it real department, creative differences had occurred by the time we were served so only one person wanted to be in the photo. Ha!

In this special anniversary edition of the enumerated update, let's review some trivia about the last thirteen years:

1) When/How we met: We first met in 1998 at work. We each had our own thing going on so that was about it.

2) Going out: Our first date was over Memorial Day weekend in 2003 in Atlanta.

3) Hang outs: Because we lived in separate states, we often met "in the middle" about every other weekend. The "middle" happened to be in Asheville, North Carolina. We were there so often we bought season passes at the Biltmore, and many of our dates were at that location and at the Grove Park Inn. Accordingly, we know a lot about the Biltmore, and the Terrace at the GPI is still an all-time favorite.

4) Proposal: Skip proposed on Christmas morning, 2004. We weren't big planners (at the time; children have changed that), but we managed to get married the following May. We were just talking about this at lunch... I picked out a dress on a Thursday night; we picked out a ring for Skip on Friday, and we got married on Saturday. When I say it out loud or type the words, it does sound crazy, but we were interested in a marriage... not a wedding.

Afterward we went to NYC, and another fun fact is that we left the itinerary (with boarding info) at home. We had to turn around, grab the itinerary and race back to the airport, and the whole time I was wondering if we even needed to have it to board. It was during that in-between time when there were no more paper tickets, but everything wasn't electronic yet. Any rate, we had a fabulous time, went to shows, museums, restaurants and revisited some of our favorite landmarks.

5) Happily Ever After: All of the cliches are true. Skip, thanks for all of the love, light, and encouragement. I will love you forever.

Have a wonderful weekend.
