Weekend Update

Welcome to May, friends.

We spent our weekend doing some good stuff. First, the girls had excellent progress reports last week, and we decided to celebrate by eating out Friday night. Our decision of when to dine out was made for us when our power went off for a couple of hours Friday night during a thunderstorm. After the storms cleared, we went out, and fortunately everything was restored when we returned home.

William George had a baseball game Saturday, and he was on the hot seat at third base because a LOT of balls were hit to him. He successfully stopped most of them (maybe one got past him?), and he had some good batting as well (3/3). He was given the honor of being rewarded the game ball, and he had an even bigger privilege of closing out the team in prayer.  After the game, we had a celebratory shave ice, which is becoming something of a tradition.

We went to church Sunday and then had lunch with Skip's parents. Poppa is getting stronger every day and will be up to his old hijinks before we know it.

Apropos of nothing, the quote of the weekend came from Lauren in response to Skip's mumbling about uniforms/sports costs associated with public schools. Lauren interjected a very heated, "Fashion matters, daddy!!!"  Ultimately, they had to agree to disagree, but Lauren's quote stuck for the remainder of the weekend.

As for us in general, we are working really hard for strong finishes in 4K and third grade. George reports that his teachers are constantly saying, "The rules are the same!" The girls report that more and more clips are lowering on the behavioral clip charts (not theirs, fortunately)(fingers crossed!).  Although there are a few weeks left, the idea of continuing to make lunches is starting to wear on us... so much so that we actually consulted the lunch menu one day last week. The girls refused to consider catfish nuggets, and cannot really blame them. They have started making their own lunches, but they under pack and come home famished. The trio? They like to eat.

Just a few more weeks, and then we are home free.
