Bulldog Run, 2017

Recently the duo's school held its annual 5K run, and Lauren and Grace were super pumped about participating. William George was bummed that he could not run in the event, but he agreed to cheer his sisters on in spirit.

They warmed up with another 5K a couple of weeks before their school's event and were ready for action Bulldog Run day. The girls both had excellent times, with Lauren finishing second and Gracie fifth in their grade level (4th). We haven't been separating boy/girl winners, but that idea was suggested during the run. In the spirit of Title IX, I think it would probably be a good idea.

Of the fourth grade girls, Lauren finished first, and Gracie finished third. Their sweet friend came in second, and all three girls (+ plus the overwhelming majority of other runners) ran their hearts out.  We couldn't be prouder of their performances.

Lauren's personal best

Grace's personal best

At the earlier run, Grace and Lauren ran the 5K, and George completed the one mile, fun run with Skip.  Because this was George's first race, we encouraged him to complete one mile versus 3.2.

George finished strong (9 minutes something), said he wasn't tired at all and that he wants to run the 5K next time. Skip confirmed that he didn't stop once, and he certainly wasn't winded.

Lauren also had a strong finish (27:51).  She also had a weird finish where this little guy challenged her and tried to crowd her off the track. Guys, don't do this... no need to crowd in this spacious lane.  Finish strong but clean.

Gracie had a fantastic finish as well, posting her second best time (she topped it at the Bulldog Run).

We cannot wait for the next run this month!
