Weekend Update and Baseball Opening Day

How was your weekend?

William George's baseball season has officially kicked off, and opening day was Saturday. In a very small capacity, I helped decorate the field Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. After inflating LOTS of mylar balloons Friday, George and I picked up the duo from school. They had had two days of standardized testing and lobbied for a milkshake after school so we availed ourselves of the Jack's happy hour BOGO for shakes. The trio went to their tennis clinic, and then everyone came home for dinner.

We were at the ball park Saturday morning at 8am to decorate a little before lining up for the opening day parade. The team marched in proudly and tried to be still and not kick up the fresh dirt during the ceremony, which was a tribute to veterans and consisted of bagpipes and a quartet singing the national anthem. They do such a fantastic job each year.

We grabbed some breakfast at CFA and then came home for some down time. We were back at the field in the afternoon for the A's first game. George had a good game... he was 2/2 on batting with a single and a double. He played third base, pitcher and short stop and had some good success stopping the ball.  George had a lot of cheering fans, what with Grammie and Poppa (Gran was sick) in the stands.

After the game, we crashed. Are we the only people who find opening day exhausting? This is why we could never do "park ball" with its 5xweekly commitments. We had a celebratory pizza night and then took Grammie home.

Palm Sunday

We had a special combined service for Palm Sunday, during which Grace, Lauren and George walked in the palm parade. Next year, the duo will be with the tweens so this was their final walk.  After church we had the laziest Sunday ever, and it was DELIGHTFUL.

We are totally and completely ready for Easter.
