Enumerated Update

Happy Friday, friends!

How was your week? For our local families it's been a little disconnected because we had a weather day Wednesday which consisted of us watching the weather radar while waiting for the power to go out (it didn't!!!) and catching up on laundry. After the storm passed, I took the duo for much needed hair cuts (4 inches gone!), and they had some neighborhood friends over to play.  All in all, it was an excellent weather day.

Otherwise, here is the situation:

1) School/Class Picture Day: School pics on Thursday prompted the duo's trims, and they were somewhat reluctant about the photos. Lauren had a mosquito bite (of course) and then Pixie scratched her face (naturally) while playing. I thought they were as lovely as ever. As it turns out, there was a mix up with the date so our whole scramble to get dressed and hot roll hair was a drill.  Ha!

2) Women's March: This week the Women's March of January 21, 2017, was awarded the PEN Freedom of Expression Courage Award for "galvanize[ing] a potent global movement to resist infringements on the rights and dignity of women and many other groups."

Nice job, ladies!

3) Syria: This is such a large topic, and we are as shocked as you are by the casualties in Syria. This week's military response is quite literally the only action Trump has taken that I agree with. However, strategically, I do wonder how effective our strikes are in the long term, or if we just feel better doing something - anything - as opposed to nothing in the face of such atrocities.

4) Initiate: One behavior separates the successful from the average. Good to know.

5) Dooce is back: Although cryptic as ever, Dooce is back... sort of... a little.

Have a great weekend!

PS: Oh! As for the above pic, I went down to the basement Wednesday during the weather day, and Lauren was in her "classroom". She asked me to kill a rogue spider that had gained entry through the crack at the bottom of the garage door. Her note was positioned kind of close to the spider, and I suppose she was hoping s/he would read the note, respect her "kind" entreaty, and go back outside.
