This year the trio decided to bring Hogwarts into our neighborhood for Halloween, with George nabbing the role of Harry, while Lauren chose Hermione, which was a perfect match. Grace stopped reading Harry Potter after The Goblet of Fire (too scary for her; totally not her genre), and she briefly contemplated being a muggle before ultimately deciding on the noble and harmless Hedwig. We had some angel wings for Pixie, and the trio voted for her to be Harold, a very minor and obscure character.... do you know who Harold is?
I didn't.
Harold is the Weasleys' owl.
Over the years, we have been so conflicted about Halloween plans. We are always torn between trick-or-treating the neighborhood or going to a big gathering/event. Over the last few years we have decided to trick-or-treat the neighborhood... whether or not that's what everyone else is doing. We invited some friends over for a Halloween pre-game party, and then we headed into our neighborhood and the two surrounding neighborhoods.
We encountered the most trick-or-treating ever in these neighborhoods! One family was doing a whole hayride thing... another family had set up a haunted trail... another family was grilling hot dogs. Finally! The universe aligned in our neighborhood for Halloween!
We LOVED having friends over and scored lots of candy... it was a GREAT night!
PS: Grace and Lauren's science teacher had them make "oobleck" as a science lab... which ALMOST made me forgive her for not canceling Science Olympiad practice on Halloween.
Almost.
Happy Halloween!
