Birthday update, second installment

Baby George was very out of sorts and cranky this past Sunday morning.  We chalked his discomfort up to celebrating too hard Saturday at the birthday party, and I stayed home with him, while Skip took Gracie and Lauren to church.  Before they arrived home, I staged their big gifts, bicycles, in the drive for them to discover upon their return.

The new bikes were a big hit.

There was some initial discussion about who should receive the bigger bike, but we all finally agreed that bikes are designed to fit leg length and height.  (It was almost as if the bikes were purchased with their unique sizes in mind!)

Some would classify the discussion as heated...

We sorted things out, and were able to enjoy a Sunday morning ride.

Gracie had to adjust to having such a big bicycle.

And she picked it up very quickly.

The horn/bells, three in total, and the baby carrier were probably the favorite aspects of the bike.

We are going to live to regret the after market horn.

After several spins on the new wheels, they have become very proficient.

What with turning five and getting BIGGER, new helmets were needed, as the old helmets no longer really fit.

Lauren has been very worried about her clothing continuing to fit once she is five, and she was glad to see we had at least planned for this likelihood with regard to her helmet.

The bikes were a huge hit, and we look forward to many rides this fall.
