Status update

This is a status update, not to be confused with an actual Christmas update, mind you.  Today we had our second visit with our Internet service provider, along with four separate calls with various technical support.  After the line crew completed their work and our service was still sporadic and slow, we were told that our modem speed was inadequate to handle the massive upgrade that was made to this ISP's service.  We were instructed to upgrade our modem, and we did so at a cost of $100 at one of our local retailers (versus renting a modem from our ISP).  They would have recommended a router upgrade, too, but we had already made that purchase on our own ($100) a couple of weeks ago.  Turns out, our service is only marginally improved, or, to be exact, the service has been restored to the point it was when we initiated our request for service 48 hours ago.  We will have our third visit from the ISP tomorrow.  I wish I could be optimistic, but I remain skeptical.

In other news, the majority of our family went to the dentist yesterday, excepting only George and me.  Skip, Lauren and Gracie were all scheduled for regular cleanings, and everyone received a GREAT report.  Other than being alarmed by the dentist's fancy new x-ray machine, the girls did great and performed like the old pros they are at this point.

The highlight was definitely getting to select a new Disney Princess toothbrush and going to the treasure box, where they were given three prizes.

You would think that the dentist's treasure prizes would pale in comparison to Christmas gifts and toys from Santa, but that would be hugely underestimating the allure of the treasure box.
