Royalty

As part of our summer program, we learned about oceans and continents.  In talking about the latter, we discussed some of the fun features of each continent.

Antarctica has the fancy penguins; Africa has such diversity and is home to elephants and giraffes.  Asia is astounding in size and is home to those cuddly pandas.

Australia has the cute koalas and kangaroos.  We talked about marsupials and how we are like kangaroos when we carry William George in the Baby Bjorn.  North America is near and dear to our heart, of course.

We talked about Europe at length.  Europe doesn't have penguins, elephants or koalas.  Gracie and Lauren were about to write off Europe as boring, until we discussed the monarchy.  A quick search pulled up photos of Princess Catherine.  Since then, Lauren has had dozens of questions.

Is she a real princess?

Why doesn't the United States have princesses?

Can we go to Buckingham Palace?  (She means inside, of course.)

Will Princess Catherine love me?

Why don't we live in a castle?

Why can't I be a real princess?

Her disappointment has been too much to bear.  Luckily, we have had William George to photo bomb and provide innumerable distractions.

George, being more of an African safari type, helps keep our mind off castles and princesses.
